Camping Indoors

With cooler weather comes the desire to drink a ton of hot chocolate and cozy-up around a warm campfire with friends.  And that’s exactly what we did here at the Boys and Girls Club! Well, in our own special Boys and Girls Club way, of course.
We turned our Game Room into a camp ground by decorating our blue walls with bright yellow stars made from construction paper (we also hung a few from the ceiling).  Next, we set up a huge, colorful parachute to resemble a rather large tent (it took up the whole room!).

Inside the tent were sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets, along with a “campfire” made of branches we had collected from around our building.

We placed orange holiday lights underneath the branches to make it resemble a glowing campfire.

Pine cones were used to create a walkway toward the entrance of the tent.  Once the kids arrived, we all huddled under the giant tent with hot chocolate and graham crackers, and took turns telling stories.
It was a great time!

Fall Harvest Feast

Back in November, the El Pomar Boys and Girls Club hosted a Fall Harvest Potluck Party for our members and their families.  Families signed up ahead of time to bring a dish as well as designated how many family members would be joining us for the night.  We reorganized our Game Room to make space for tables and chairs, then dressed it up in fall colors and turkeys.

The turnout was outstanding and proved to be an amazing opportunity to connect with the families of our community, and not to mention, enjoy a delicious meal together.

It was also the perfect time to recognize a few families that have helped the Boys and Girls Club out in this time of need, as well as introduce a few new staff members.

We hope to have more meals together in the near future!

Welcome!

We've created this blog to inform you about upcoming events, program opportunities, field trips, days clubs are closed, and other important topics for local families in the Pikes Peak Region.

We have a lot of things to update you on, including all of the fun activities we conducted over the holiday season, as well as what we hope to accomplish in the near future.  Our next session of programming will begin January 24, which will be here before we know it!  We are stoked to continue with a few of our favorites, like Triple Play and Smart Girls, but we are also excited to introduce a few new programs that we hope will inspire our youth, and maybe even ignite a new passion.

As we prepare for the coming months, we’d like to show you all the wonderful things the Boys and Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region has to offer, so please continue to come back here for regular updates!
